A synthesizer
comprises of two things; it is a device
that creates music electronically & it is
a device that sparked both
great innovation & experimentation in forms of music as
well as great passion either for
or against its unique application.
The synthesizer has its roots in devices created
in computer labs, using equipment from analog
computers & other forms of laboratory
test equipment. The earliest of synthesizer
showed up as far back as the 1920’s,
producing limited sounds & weighing hundreds
of pounds. It wasn’t until the 1950’s
that serious attempts at electronically music
& human voice sounds were attempted.
Synthesizers are usually equipped with a piano
style keyboard. Each key of the keyboard is
actually a switch by which the person can
switch electronic circuits on & off keyboards
are by far the most popular input devices.
They are extremely versatile instruments.
They can be made to initiate any other instrument
from reed instruments to drums. But the true
power of the synthesizer is its possibility
to create completely new, yet unheard sounds
– even if not all of these sounds are
useful for musical purposes.
Here, at PAIPA the students are taught
to play Synthesizer in a very methodical
way & by using both the hands. Care
is taken that the basic fingering is perfect
so that the apt foundation for learning
this instrument & further experimentation
is laid. The notes are rendered in a concrete
form, which are easily understandable &
simple in technique & execution.
